Our Academics
A typical day at The Bridge Academy is organized to foster success through repetition of material that is sensitive to the child's individual strengths and difficulties. Each child has an individual learning plan that is updated each semester. Academics are enhanced with daily speech-language therapy provided in the classroom.

Literacy
Writing
Mathematics
We use a variety of multisensory, evidence-based programs and materials that align with the science-of-reading. The day is structured to include the five pillars of literacy:
Phonemic Awareness
Phonics
Vocabulary
Comprehension
Fluency

Our written expression program includes systematic training in encoding advanced phonics patterns to improve spelling. We also aim to improve linguistic processing, word, retrieval, and rapid naming in order to better organize the language brain for both oral and written expression. Multisensory materials aid the student in organization, word choice, grammar, usage, and mechanics of writing.
Yes, math is language too! Many of our younger elementary students struggle with the language of math while our students who have solid number sense continue to struggle with word problems. We use visual programs such as Singapore Math along with manipulatives and predictable, systematic daily instruction.
